About this privacy notice
The Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ("GDPR") and is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
Brighton & Hove City council are committed to protecting your personal information. As a data controller we have a responsibility to make sure you know why and how your personal information is being collected in accordance with relevant data protection law.
Why we are processing your data
We are collecting your data for the purpose of obtaining feedback to make improvements to the online system used by customers to apply to the housing register, bid using the choice based lettings scheme Homemove, seek housing advice and update housing register and homelessness applications. We are also asking for contact details of those respondents who may be interested in being involved later on in the project to assist in testing and giving feedback on any new online service planned. Any contact details provided will be used for the purposes of this project only. We may also use your anonymised feedback to inform our Equalities Impact Assessment. This will be done on the basis of your consent.
Who we will share your data with
General survey data will be anonymised. Personal data will only be collected from those who choose to opt in to sharing their contact details for the purposes of being involved in testing. General survey data will be anonymised. If you provide any personal data, this may be shared within Housing with teams such as The Housing Systems Programme Team, the Community Engagement Team, Performance and Improvement, the Allocations Team, Housing Advice & Triage and/or the Homelessness Teams to make contact if you have opted to be involved in testing of a new system. Your data will be anonymised and used to inform the implementation of the new system and the Equalities Impact Assessment.
Your information will not be shared with any other third party unless we are under a legal obligation to do so. Examples of this could include to safeguard vulnerable adults or children or to prevent or detect crime etc.

How long we will hold your data (retention)
Your information will be kept until after the customer user acceptance testing of the new system is complete. This period will not exceed 2 years from the point the data is collected. After this time it will be deleted.
If you sign up to participate in user testing but later wish to withdraw consent and be removed from the mailing list, please email HOLSupport@brighton-hove.gov.uk.
