The Council is the data controller for purposes of the Data Protection Act (2018) and EU General Data Protection Regulation as of May 2018 and is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO)
Brighton & Hove City Council are committed to protecting your personal information. As a data controller we have a responsibility to make sure you know why and how your personal information is being collected in accordance with relevant data protection law.
Purposes and lawful basis of processing
We are collecting your data for the purpose of administering your licence application for a car park, garage and storage space. We have a lawful basis for processing as it is a contract. Special category data is not being processed.
Who we will share your data with
Your data may be shared with Housing Customer Services, Estates Services, Tenancy Services or Car Park and Garages staff to administer your Licence or service the parking or garage or storage space. We also share data with other outside agencies such as the civil parking enforcement contractor, DVLA, legal representatives or bailiffs to ensure terms and conditions of the Licence are kept plus to manage any breach of agreement. We may also share data with Fraud Prevention or Police to prevent or detect crime.
The council operates shared services with Surrey County Council and East Sussex County Council. We may share your information with one of these partners if necessary to provide these services.
How long we will hold your data (retention)
We will not hold your data for longer than is necessary to comply with legal or other obligations. Usually this will be 6 years after the end of your licence.
Transferring data outside the United Kingdom
Your information is not processed outside of the UK.
