What is Text for your Next Bus?
Text for your Next Bus provides real time bus information to mobile phones by text message.
How to text for your next bus
-

-
Text the unique bus stop code to 84268 (all codes begin with 'bri')
-
If you want the times for a specific bus route, text the bus stop code, then a space and the number of the bus to 84268. For example: bridpdp 1
You will get a text with the times of the next four buses due at that stop. Texts cost 25p plus standard network charges.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the system cost me to use?
Each text costs 25p plus your standard network charges. Please note that this can vary depending on your mobile phone operator.
How does the system work?
A satellite tracking device, fitted to each bus, lets the Real Time Information system know where it is. The system then calculates how long it will take the bus to arrive at each of the stops along the route. The information you get on your mobile is taken from the real time system and will reflect the location of the bus at the time the text is sent e.g. '6 minutes'.
What happens if the real time information isn't available?
If the real time bus information is not available you will receive a text showing scheduled departure times.
Will I receive more than one text to update me on the location of the bus?
No, you will receive one response for each text sent. If you require further updates on the arrival time of the bus you will need to send another text.
What happens if I enter an incorrect bus stop code?
If you do not send a valid bus stop code, you will receive an error message. You will not be charged for this text message.
