Why is environmental education important?
An awareness of sustainability issues integrated into learning opportunities can provide people with the knowledge and motivation to contribute towards a more sustainable future.Which environmental issues do we cover?
Our environmental education work covers a range of specific topics as well as considering global environmental issues and how individuals can make a difference.
Some of the topics we cover include:
- litter awareness - how much does it cost to clear it up? how can it harm people and wildlife?
- anti-vandalism - why do people vandalise? what effect does it have on other people?
- waste reduction and recycling - how to and why reduce, re-use and recycle. Use week's worth of household rubbish as a focus.
- 'green' consumerism - how to use consumer power to benefit the environment, e.g. choosing goods with less packaging or buying recycled goods
- real nappies
