Brighton Museum & Art Gallery was transformed by a £10million redevelopment in 2002, with a complete redisplay of its rich and diverse collections.
Within the re-modelled building, dynamic and innovative new galleries provide greatly improved access to the museum's nationally and locally important collections.
New facilities include reinstatement of the original museum entrance in Royal Pavilion Gardens with a spacious foyer and shop, passenger lift and full disabled access. Also the new Gallery Cafe.
Admission is free.

World Stories: Young Voices – opening of new permanent gallery at Brighton Museum & Art Gallery
New gallery opens to the public on Saturday 23 June 2012
World Stories: Young Voices is a new permanent gallery featuring a designated World Art collection redisplayed with the involvement of young people from Brighton and beyond.
Project staff are working with the Museum’s Access Advisory Group to ensure the new World Stories: Young Voices gallery – and its associated events programme – are as widely accessible as possible. Some events will be specifically aimed at disabled young people but accessible venues, audio-description and BSL signage will be available at all. Tactile elements, use of subtitling and BSL invision will be used across the gallery.
All areas of the museum are accessible for wheelchair users and for people with limited mobility. There is a passenger lift and fully accessible toilets.
Tactile tours can be booked for groups of visually impaired visitors, and sign language interpreted group tours are available for the hard of hearing. All group tours must be booked in advance.
