Council election results 2011
Annual Council Meeting for 2011 on 19 May

The first full council meeting since the local election has been held. This was the Annual Council Meeting for 2011. The council has elected Councillor Anne Meadows as the new mayor and Councillor Geoff Wells as deputy mayor.
Councillor Bill Randall has been appointed as leader of the council. After the meeting Cllr Randall appointed a new cabinet.

It's proposed that areas of responsibility for the cabinet will be divided up in a different way to the previous cabinet. Other appointments, for example membership of cabinet committees have been agreed. The web pages relating to these other appointments will be updated across the web site over the next few days.
Local elections held on Thursday 5 May 2011
The results from the council election on Thursday 5 May are shown below.

We are in the process of updating councillor information on the rest of our website.
There is no overall control by one political party of the city council following the election. The Greens are now the largest party with 23 seats out of a possible 54. The Conservatives have 18 seats and Labour 13. The overall turnout was 41%.
A new leader was appointed at the Annual Council Meeting on 19 May.
