Fees payable before getting married or registering a civil partnership

To enter notice of marriage or civil partnership (15 days notice required), the fees are £35 each. 

At the time of booking your appointment with us, we will ask for a booking fee of £35 each. When you attend your appointment, the booking fee will be transferred from your account with us and credited to your notice fee. This means less for you to worry about apart from ensuring you bring the relevant documents with you.

Both parties are required to attend the office to give notice. The notice is valid for 12 months from the date it has been given. A minimum residential qualification of at least seven clear days is required. For further information and to book an appointment please telephone (01273) 294421.

Marriage and civil partnership ceremony fees

We have two ceremony rooms at Brighton Town Hall.

The Register Office is the smaller of the two rooms and has a capacity of eight maximum guests. Simple ceremonies may be held in the Register Office Monday -Thursday for a fee of £49 to include a certificate. A non-refundable deposit of £25 is required when booking the ceremony date. This fee is deducted from the total fee due.

The Regency Room has a capacity of 50 maximum guests and is available for ceremonies Monday - Saturday (Sundays and Bank Holidays only when available). A non-refundable deposit of £55 is required when booking the ceremony date. This fee is deducted from the total fee due. Fees for ceremonies in the Regency Room are listed below:

Weddings at other approved venues

There are 42 other venues in Brighton & Hove where you may wish to marry or register your civil partnership. A list of the venues may be found here. To secure the attendance of the Registrars, a non-refundable deposit of £55 is taken at the time of booking. This fee is deducted from the total fee due. The fees for Registrars to attend ceremonies at these venues are listed below (please note that additional fees are charged by the venue and for details of these fees you will need contact the venue direct)
