Walking in the city
Brighton & Hove City Council is keen to encourage walking in the city. You can reach most of Brighton & Hove's key central areas on foot within just 15 minutes.
Our aim is to make getting about and exploring on foot more pleasant and safer for residents and visitors alike.
The city has an extensive network of public footpaths, rural public rights of way, bridleways and byways.
The council also owns thousands of hectares of countryside with open access and Rights of Way around the city, and runs guided walks and other events. These help people access the city's green spaces.
