The Communities and Equality Team

The Communities and Equality Team works to “engage people who live and work in the city” as stated in the Corporate Plan and:

  • leads on third sector policy and development, and the council’s relationship with the sector
  • leads on community engagement
  • coordinates city wide neighbourhood support
  • coordinates targeted community work aimed at reducing inequality
  • delivers the council’s discretionary grant and community development commissioning programmes

A single corporate lead on this work provides a more coherent and effective service which is better able to meet needs of communities across the city.
