City Sports and Physical Activity Awards 2009
Winners of Sports and Physical Activity Awards announced
The winners of the Brighton & Hove City Sports and Physical Activity Awards 2009 were revealed at a ceremony in Hove in October.
Over 200 guests joined the winners and runners-up at the ceremony which featured players and teams from a wide range of sports and clubs across the city.
At the award ceremony, councillor David Smith, Brighton & Hove City Council’s cabinet member for culture, recreation and tourism, said: “Now in its second year these awards are a celebration of the most elite and hard-working sports performers in Brighton & Hove and give local people the chance to be acknowledged for achievements and successes within the field of sport.
“In the lead up to London 2012, we will be aiming to expand the awards to continue to highlight the great achievements – well done to everyone this evening,” he added.
Ryan Heal, MD of local radio station Juice FM hosted the ceremony which saw 28 awards being presented to winners and highly commended runners-up. At the end of the evening, a raffle had raised over £300 for the Mayor’s charities.
The awards were sponsored by Brighton & Hove City Council, NHS Brighton and Hove and DC Leisure and the winners had been nominated by local clubs and organisations and were administered through Brighton & Hove City Council’s Sports Development team.
