Save money at city’s libraries
As the credit crunch bites, save yourself money by borrowing books and hiring CDs and DVDs from Brighton & Hove’s libraries.
It costs just £1 a week to hire a chart CD like Take That’s 'The Circus' for a week from a local library - a lot cheaper than buying a copy for £8.93 from Tesco’s website.
Hiring a DVD like 'Mamma Mia' for a week from a library is £3, whereas at Blockbuster it would set you back £3.95 a night.
And you can make massive savings when borrowing books. A bestseller like comic Paul O’Grady’s biography costs £9 at Sainsbury’s. You can borrow it from the library for nothing.
Library computers offering web access and email are also free, compared to 50p to £1 an hour charged by the typical internet café.
While all the titles mentioned are available through libraries, sometimes they will have to be reserved. For more information on library services and to find out how to enrol, visit www.citylibraries.info.
