New Driver Awareness workshop

The next New Driver Awareness session for members of the public will be held on Wednesday 29th May at Hove Town Hall between 5:30 and 7pm. It is free and Highways Agency emergency kits, including ice scrapers will be given away.

Please contact : keith.baldock@brighton-hove.gov.uk or phone 01273 292258

Future public sessions are planned in Hove Town Hall on :  Monday 17th June, Monday 8th July and Tuesday 13th August - again at 5:30 to 7pm.

Once you've passed your test, the Institute of Advanced Motorists and RoSPA offer local tuition to help you improve your driving. The Institute of the Motoring Industry also has some good material for new drivers. Drive IQ has some good free computer simulation and other information for new drivers as well.

New Drivers are particularly at risk on the roads. One in five will have a collision in their first year of driving.

These 90 minute workshops cover the causes and consequences of collisions reminding attendees about how to avoid them. They are informal and friendly and are intended to raise the awareness of participants - helping them to make informed choices about how they drive.

These workshops have been at Varndean College/PACA/Brighton & Hove High/College in the past and we are currently providing workshops at BHASVIC. We would also like to run the workshops at other colleges and sites where there are lots of potential new drivers. Please contact us for more information.

Several organisations and businesses have offered discounts to those participating in the workshops.
