Moulsecoomb Children's Centre and Bevendean CC

Moulsecoomb Children's Centre offers services for families with children under 5 years to all areas of Moulsecoomb, Bates Estate, Bevendean, Meadowview, Coldean and Sussex and Brighton University sites.There is a Gateway Children's Centres at Bevendean Primary School, Heath Hill Avenue.

Moulsecoomb Children's Centre, including Bevendean centre, was inspected by Ofsted in June 2012 and has been given an 'outstanding' report across all areas of our work. Jump Start Nursery is based in Moulsecoomb Children's Centre.

The Sure Start Children's Centre team is made up of health visitors, early years visitors, community nursery nurse and speech therapists. The team works with families, individuals and groups, in the home and in the Centre.

Group activities are held in the children's centre. Some of these are drop-in sessions and others are by appointment or referral. All groups are listed in the activity diary April - Oct 2013 [PDF 285KB]. Please contact the children's centre if you would like a copy sent to you.

Health Visitors hold a drop-in healthy child clinic and group for children under 5.

  • every Tuesday  9.00 - 11.00 at Moulsecoomb CC.
  • first Monday each month 9.30-10.30 in Bevendean CC group, term time only

Moulsecoomb children's centre has an advisory group that supports and guides the services offered. Local parents are involved in this group. If you would like to join the advisory group, please contact the Service Support Manager or Parent Involvement Worker at the centre.

Volunteer opportunities are available. Full support and guidance is given by children's centre staff; Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS), previously called Criminal Records Bureau, and other checks are carried out by the Council. Please contact the centre for more details or link to this leaflet for parents information about volunteering [PDF 91KB]
