Plastic bags - re-use them, or better still don't use them!
The council is looking at ways to eliminate plastic bag use in the city, including developing a ‘bag for life’.
Sustainability councillor Denise Cobb is pictured with re-usable cotton bags at local group’s ‘Drama for Fun’s environmental production at Benfield Junior School, Portslade.
The council-sponsored bags were given out to the audience. Everyone can help.
- try taking your own shopping bags out with you, and
- using old plastic bags to separate your recycling – they will be returned in your box for you to use again
- use them as freezer bags
- place them over young plants to aid germination
- use to line hanging baskets, or
- to grow potatoes!
