Work has started on a £2.5 building and refurbishment programme at Varndean school.

As well as a new library and three new computer rooms, the project will create new toilets and changing rooms as well as two new food technology rooms, a new textiles room and new art rooms. The city’s lead councillor for children’s services, Vanessa Brown, is pictured on site with Steve Teale of contractor Rok. Work is due to finish by September.

The scheme is part of a five-year partnership between Rok and Brighton & Hove City Council which has seen the successful delivery of numerous education projects within the city.
