Marina plan to stop 'free for all'

A masterplan for Brighton Marina is being produced, aimed at ending piecemeal development of the area and establishing ground rules for determining new planning applications.

Council officials working on the planning advisory note believe it is essential to bring about improvements to transport, infrastructure and public areas.

Local residents, emergency services, developers, English Heritage, the Environment Agency and Natural England have contributed their views. It is hoped that the advisory note will be approved by the council’s environment committee in March.

Further work and consultation would then be done to upgrade it to a ‘supplementary planning document’, which would have far greater status in the planning system.
