The Sustainable Community Strategy

The Sustainable Community Strategy

Brighton & Hove's Sustainable Community Strategy sets out the vision and plans of the agencies, organisations and communities who work together through the 2020 Community Partnership to improve the quality of life in this City.

Climate Change Strategy Development

At the 2020 Community Partnership meeting on 31 May 2007 the 2020 Community Partnership held a themed discussion on Climate Change and it's impacts on Brighton & Hove. An action from this discussion was to form a sub-group of the 2020 Community Partnership who could discuss and take this topic forward further. A small group of cross-sectoral partnership members formed the sub-group which initially met in July 2007.

Having looked at the City Council's Climate Change Action Plan [link to follow] the sub-group decided that it would be good to develop a Climate Change Strategy which would be 'owned' by the 2020 Community Partnership - and therefore the wider community. The group decided that for the strategy to be truly owned by the 2020 CP it's development must involve a high level of consultation with local experts and interest groups from the outset.

Initial Stakeholder Workshop

Monday 19 November 2007

9.30am - 5.00pm  The Freeman Centre, University of Sussex

An 'Initial Stakeholder Workshop' was held on Monday 19 November at The Freeman Centre at University of Sussex. Over 150 people were invited from a wide range of backgrounds and levels of knowledge and expertise, with around 70 attendees on the day. The event was facilitated by The Environment Council, an independent organisation, in order to ensure that none of the local stakeholders were leading the process.

The documents below summarise the work undertaken by our stakeholders on the 19 November and our facilitators summary report of the day.
