Sensory needs service
For visually and/or hearing impaired children
The Sensory Needs Service (SNS) is part of the council's provision for both hearing impaired and visually impaired children. The service is staffed by a team of teachers who all hold additional specialist qualifications in hearing impairment and/or visual impairment. We also have an Educational Audiologist, a Family Support Worker and a Mobility Officer. The primary role of the service is to support Visually Impaired (VI) and Hearing Impaired (HI) children in Brighton & Hove's schools. The Hearing Support Facility at Bevendean Primary School is an integral part of our service.
The basic philosophy of the service is to enable children to reach their potential and to take their full place in society.
