Curricular Targets

The setting of termly curricular targets is established in ISP schools.  To find out more about how to use curricular targets follow this link: Using Curricular Targets (doc).  Follow these links for the blank curricular target proforma - Maths (doc) and the blank curricular target proforma - Literacy (doc).  Curricular targets used in Brighton and Hove include success criteria for all target levels.  The development of these success criteria has been significant in two ways.  Firstly, success criteria support children to be more actively and more meaningfully involved in the assessment of their own progress, hence supporting assessment for learning.  This has improved ownership of targets by children.  Secondly, success criteria support teachers to ensure that an appropriate range of work has been planned for, so that learning in the target area is applied over different situations.  This makes the assessment that a child has reached their target more secure in terms of establishing that true learning has taken place.

Follow the links below to see some examples of curricular targets used throughout Brighton and Hove.
