Licensing Act 2003 - Public Register

The changes made to alcohol and entertainment licensing took effect on 24 November 2005.  After the transitional period, which allowed for currently licensed premises to apply for the new type of licences ready for the start date, all licences now fall under the new regime.  Each week we receive applications open for consultation; see our Licensing Applications weekly lists.
The new legislation also requires the Licensing Authority to produce a Public Register - a large number of items are specified by the 2003 Act to be on that register.  Many areas of the register will be empty until relevant applications are made (e.g. for replacement licences if stolen).
A list of those items that are in the register appears below and, when finalised, each listed item will link you to that part of the register and give an up-to-date overview at the time you log on as well as a brief explanatory note.

Reports currently available

The legal requirement is that each of the categories specified below has a record open to public view; the legislation doesn't specify what the record shall contain but we have tried to include as much relevant information as possible.
The data from which these records are created are kept in a format based on date order of receipt so, if you are searching for categories of premises (e.g. pubs, hotels, restaurants, etc.) or, for example, days of the week that places are open late (e.g. Fridays & Saturdays) then the report can only be used for a trawl.  However, if a particular premises' details are sought then it is often easiest to use your computer's search function [Ctrl + F] and type in the name of the premises or, for a wider search, a postcode.
The same information will be available at our office during normal opening hours and copies can be provided on request, for which a reasonable charge must be levied.
