Research & Consultation Project Guidance

The Research and Consultation Project Guidance helps to ensure that the principles of the Community Engagement Framework are followed.

This process means that everyone undertaking research or consultation can get guidance for their project from the council's Analysis & Research Team.

How does the guidance improve the research and consultation process?

The guidance is designed to ensure that we only undertake research and consultation when:

  • it is necessary (this includes consultation that central government requires us to do)
  • there are no alternative sources of information that can answer any of the proposed questions
  • the methods selected are appropriate and effective
  • standards of good practice as outlined in the Community Engagement Framework and Code of Practice for Consultation are followed and the work is ethical and inclusive.
