Local Housing Allowance, Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction application form

To make an application for help with your rent and Council Tax, you can use our online benefit claim calculator to find out how much help you could get. You will also be told if your answers indicate that you’re entitled to Income Support, Pension Credit or Tax Credits. 

The online calculator and claim form has two parts. The first part will indicate if you are eligible for help. The second part will allow you to make an application. Please ensure you answer the questions accurately about your household circumstances.


New Claim

  1. Save time and use our online calculator and claim form
  2. You can now submit your evidence online - Email us at housing.benefits@brighton-hove.gov.uk with what evidence you need to support your application. Remember to include the following details in your Email; Full Name, Date of Birth, National Insurance and your Full Address.

Change of Circumstances
  1. You can now let us know about your change of circumstances online
  2. You can now submit your evidence online - Email us at housing.benefits@brighton-hove.gov.uk with what evidence you need to support your application. Remember to include the following details in your Email; Claim Reference (if known), Full Name, Date of Birth, National Insurance and your Full Address.

Did you know you can speed up your application processing time by submitting your evidence by email? If you have recently received a letter asking for evidence to verify your change you can also email us with it rather than sending it or bringing it in. Please note we do not accept passports electronically.
