Welcome to Brighton & Hove's Road Safety Education section. This section provides education, training and publicity for road safety so that the risk of people being involved in a road traffic crash can be reduced. It also provides advice to schools and develops schemes to help the journey to and from school become safer. This is done either through education, engineering measures, the use of a School Crossing Patrol and/or through projects within the school which help find alternative transport other than the car so that congestion around schools can be reduced.
Exchanging Places
Appreciating the perspective of other road users is a key part of road safety – "Share the Roads, Share the Responsibility". Two very different road users are bus drivers and cyclists. Both can have very negative things to say about the other.
To allow more perspective on this Brighton and Hove buses are taking part in an "Exchanging Places" event in New Rd on Friday 23rd July - 10am to 3pm. Cyclists who have been ticketed recently as part of "Exchanging Places" by the police can take part in the event and have their ticket rescinded on the day.
