frequently asked questions
I am a carer and would like to know more about the carer's assessment. What does the assessment involve?
if you regularly provide a substantial amount of care to a relative, partner, friend or neighbour you have the legal right to ask social services to carry out a carers' assessment. a carers' assessment will:
- find out about your needs as a carer
- give you an opportunity to say what you think are the needs of the person you care for
- look at your ability and willingness to continue to provide care
- give you an opportunity to identify and talk about the things that could make your caring role easier for you
