Features and Attractions
East Brighton Park is home to one of the biggest and most dramatic municipal bulb displays in the country. 420,000 bulbs were planted in the autumn of 2008 to give a continuous but changing display of colour from February through to May. Yellow Narcissus 'Tete a Tete', are the first to show, followed by a mix of the white Narcissus 'Pueblo', and yellow scented jonquils (Narcissus Jonquilla Simplex). Climaxing in May with two varieties of Camassia, 'Caerulea', and 'Cusickii'.
The park is also home to a new woodland plantation containing hundreds of new saplings including field maple, sweet chestnut, yew and wild cherry. The saplings were planted as part of a ‘Trees for Cities’, mass tree planting event involving schools, businesses and local volunteers. As the saplings mature into woodland, further plants will be added to enhance the site, in keeping with the natural development of the new woodland.
This park has many shrub areas where you can quietly contemplate life or if you are feeling sporty there are many clubs to get involved with.
The two all-weather sports areas are floodlit and open all year until 10pm, they are mainly marked out for full size football, five-a-side or hockey pitches.
East Brighton Park is also the home to Whitehawk F.C. who play in the Sussex County league division one.
No camping - please use Sheepcote Valley Caravan Site.

Originally bought by the council in 1913, and landscaped in 1925 into the park we know today.Park Ranger
Our Park Rangers take a lead role in education and interpretation events, habitat protection and practical conservation tasks in their areas. They also provide a reassuring uniformed presence in our parks to encourage a sense of security and to provide information.
The Ranger for East Brighton Park is Paul Gorringe.
As well as his regular duties Paul assists with local events in the park and conducts tree planting, wildlife and wildflower events and guided walks. These take in both the park’s woods and the Sheepcote Valley local nature reserve, to contrast the woodland and chalk grassland habitats and wildlife.
Accessibility
The park is laid out mostly on the flat, however there are sloping areas. While the pathways don’t feature any steps some of the paths in sloping areas of the park may not be accessible to all. A small number of benches are featured along the paths. At present neither the playground nor the pavilion/café are accessible.
There are two car parks, a small parking area at the front of the park and a larger one just past the pavilion by the cricket field.
There are limited parking spaces in this park and priority use must be given to disabled park visitors.
The nearest accessible toilet is at Whitehawk library.
Location
East Brighton Park sits on the eastern edge of Whitehawk, to the south of Sheepcote Valley.
The park is easily accessible by bus or view map. There is limited parking in one main car park beyond the cafe.
