City In Bloom - Sustainable Communities

Welcome to City in Bloom 2009

Competitions in the Community

Gardeners from across Brighton & Hove are celebrating after the City in Bloom awards that were announced on 3 September.

Accolades were given to businesses, residents and neighbourhoods at the ceremony, held at the Metropole Hotel in Brighton.

Organised by Brighton & Hove City Council, the annual City in Bloom awards are aimed at encouraging people to say it with flowers and brighten up their streets with blooms. Entries were up this year, particularly in the Best Street and Best Front Garden categories.

Councillor Mears said: "The theme of this year's City in Bloom was Flowers in My Street and we are thrilled that so many people entered into the spirit of the awards.

"It is wonderful to see residents, businesses and even whole streets transforming their premises with flowers. Judging from the nominations we received from the public we know that people really enjoy seeing these colourful floral displays as they go on their day to day journeys around the city.We are grateful to all our local sponsors who support the awards and help to make them possible."
