Amaze works with parents and carers of children and young people with any special need or disability, aged 0-19 years.

Amaze offers one point of access to information, advice and support about issues to do with education, social care, leisure, money matters and health care.

How Amaze can help

Amaze offers help in the following areas:

  • Telephone helpline (01273) 772289
    The helpline is open Monday to Thursday mornings from 9.30 am to 12 midday and Thursday evenings from 6 to 8 pm.
    The helpline offers advice and support to parents and professionals about any issue to do with children with special needs.         
  • Individual help with education and benefits issues
    Parents are given one to one help with negotiations with schools and the local authority, for the type of education they want for their child.        
  • Information and publications
    Through the Maze is our handbook written by parents for parents of children with special needs. It provides information about services and provision plus tips and ideas for getting the best for children and young people.
    Out of Amaze is the termly newsletter which includes topical updates and information about local events and issues.
    Through the Next Maze is our handbook for parents of young people aged 14 and above. It helps parents guide their children through the change from childhood to adulthood.     
  • Workshops and support groups
    Workshops are designed to provide parents with practical ideas and strategies for  working with and supporting children and young people with special needs.
    Support groups meet regularly, offering the chance to meet others and share experiences and mutual support.        
  • Volunteer Disability Living Allowance (DLA) scheme
    Volunteers assist parents who are applying for Disability Living Allowance.        
  • Development work
    Amaze works to influence the planning and development of services for children and young people with special needs.
