School Admissions Timetable

Please select the type of school your child will be attending to get to the relevant timetable.

• Infant, Junior and Primary                   
• Secondary

The six officers in the school admissions team deal with more than 8000 applications each year. Whilst we can provide information about the admissions process and are happy to answer specific queries from parents/carers, please do not telephone the school admissions team to ask about the progress of your application, as we will not be able to provide this information until all applications have been considered. In addition, this may cause delays in the admissions process.

Please be aware that there are no facilities for School Admissions Team members to meet with parents/carers face to face. At busy times the school admissions team may not be able to provide detailed information immediately.

Infant, Junior and Primary School applications

For Children born between 1 September 2008 and 31 August 2009, (or between 1 September 2005 and 31 August 2006 in the case of Junior schools)

Date	Action
October 2012 onwards	Opportunity for parents/carers to visit individual schools.  Prospectuses available from schools.
Deadline: 15 January 2013 at 3pm	Completed online applications or forms to be returned by 3pm. We Strongly recommend you do not delay your application to the last minute in case of technical problems. If you choose to apply on paper it is your responsiblility to ensure that the form arrives at its destination on time- this will not be acknowledged.
February, March, April 2013	Preference forms analysed
19 April 2013	Online applicants will be notified by e-mail during the afternoon. Decision letters posted first class to only those parents/carers who have requested a hard copy. No decisions will be issued by telephone.
May 2013	Waiting lists established
June 2013 onwards	Independent Appeals Panels meet to consider applications from parents/carers who are unhappy with their school allocation.
September 2013	Children start school, full or part time.

Secondary

For Children born between 1 September 2001 and 31 August 2002 the secondary school admission timetable is as follows

Date	Action
September 2012 onwards	Opportunity for parents/carers to visit individual schools.  Prospectuses available from schools.
Deadline:  31 October 2012 at 3pm	Completed online applications or forms to be submitted by 3pm.  We strongly recommend that you do not delay your application to the last minute in case of technical problems. If you choose to apply on a paper form it is your responsibility to ensure that the form arrives at its destination on time.
January/February 2013	Secondary school applications analysed by School Admissions Team.
1 March 2013	Online applicants will be notified by e-mail during the afternoon. Decision letters posted first class to only those parents/carers who have requested a hard copy. No decisions will be issued by telephone.
April onwards	Places offered from the re-allocation pool as they become available.
April onwards	Independent Appeals Panels meet to consider applications from parents/carers who are unhappy with their Secondary school allocation.
September 2013	Children start their new schools.
