If you applied for a place at a school in Brighton & Hove but weren’t successful, you may appeal that decision. To do this, please complete one of the forms below (there are two – one for Reception to Year Two and one for Year Three to Year Eleven). If you are appealing for more than one school you will need to complete a separate form for each school.

Appeal hearings are held throughout the year, but the main bulk of appeals will be held between May and July. Download the timetable for more details [PDF 9kb]

School Admissions are responsible for the allocation of places to schools in Brighton & Hove and hold the waiting list (reallocation pool) for schools.

Guidance Note

Guidance Note [PDF 51kb]

Please read the guidance note before you complete and submit the appeal form. This is particularly important if your appeal is for Reception Year to Year 2, where the grounds on which an appeal can succeed are very limited.

Appeal Form

You can submit an Appeal Form online or by post. The appeal forms you will need to use depends on which year group your child will be joining.
