Paying by Direct Debit

Direct Debit is a convenient and safe way to pay. Once it’s set, up the payments are done automatically – saving on phone calls, stamps, envelopes, and trips to a letter box or PayPoint. It also means no more worries about forgetting to pay and the hassle that can cause.

Download a form or call us to set up a Direct Debit

To arrange payment by Direct Debit, simply complete a Direct Debit form or call us during office hours on one of the phone numbers below.  Please have your bill and your bank account details ready if you call us as most Direct Debits can be set up over the phone straight away.

Depending on the bill you are paying, you may have a choice of dates available for your monthly payments.

Direct Debit forms are available as PDF downloads by clicking on the relevant link below. You can then print, complete and return your form directly to us. You can email us if you'd like us to send you a Direct Debit form by post or if you have any queries about Direct Debits.

However, if your payment or query is urgent, please call us during office hours on the relevant telephone number for your type of bill.

Business Rates (NNDR)

You can choose to pay your business rates (national non-domestic rates) by Direct Debit on either the 1st or 15th of each month.

• Download, print and return a Business Rates Direct Debit Instruction form [PDF 758KB]
• Email us to ask for a Direct Debit form to be posted out to you: nndr@brighton-hove.gov.uk
• Call (01273) 291981 to set up a Direct Debit over the phone - an authorised signatory for your bank account will need to call us.

Council Tax

You can choose to pay your council tax by Direct Debit on either the 1st, 6th, 15th or 25th of each month.

• Email us to ask for a Direct Debit form to be posted out to you: council.tax@brighton-hove.gov.uk
• Call (01273) 291291 to set up a Direct Debit over the phone.

Council housing, car parking space and garage rent charges

You can choose to pay your council housing, car parking space or garage rents by Direct Debit on either the 1st or 15th of each month.

Council leaseholders and central collection team

Our central collection team manage payment arrangements for a range of services across the council, including council leaseholders.

Housing benefit invoices

You can choose to pay housing benefit invoices by Direct Debit on either the 1st, 6th, 15th or 25th of each month.
