School closures Thursday April 24 - NUT strike
The schools listed below have informed the council that they will be closing on Thursday April 24 due to the one-day strike declared by the National Union of Teachers (NUT).

- Elm Grove Primary
- Fairlight Primary
- Goldstone Primary
- Hangleton Junior
- Hertford Junior
- Longhill
- Middle Street Primary
- Moulsecoomb Primary
- Our Lady of Lourdes RC Primary
- Patcham House Special School
- Patcham Infant & Junior
- Peter Gladwin Primary
- Portslade Community College
- Portslade Infant
- Queen's Park Primary + Nursery

The following schools will be partially closed:
- Blatchington Mill - Open only to year 9 express French group, all other classes closed
- Cottesmore St Mary's RC Primary - 5 classes will be closed, rest of school open
- Falmer High - years 9 + 11 open for revision
- Hertford Infant & Nursery - 2 classes to remain open - puffin & penguin. Breakfast club open as normal. After school art club open as normal
- Hillside Special School - 3 of the 9 classes to stay open
- Hove Park - Valley Campus closed, but Nevill Campus to remain open. Years 7,8 and 9 will be asked to stay at home. Year 10s are on work placements, Year 11s in school exams. Sixth form will operate as normal
- Mile Oak Primary
- Patcham High - only open for Year 11, all other classes closed
- St Luke's Junior - classes 5B, 6F, 6M to remain open, all other classes closed
- St Martin's CE Primary - year 6 open, all other years closed
- Somerhill Junior - classes 4WE, 5SU, 6GR and 6PR to remain open
- Westdene Primary - Years 2 + 6 to remain open
- West Hove Infants - 3 classes open
- West Hove Juniors
The council is working with our schools to ensure the minimum possible disruption to parents and children should the strike go ahead.
The other teacher trade unions did not ballot for industrial action so staff from unions other than the NUT will be expected to attend for work on Thursday.
