Additional School Places for September 2010 and September 2011
From September 2010 Westdene and Goldstone Primary schools are both increasing their reception classes from 60 to 90. The Office of the Schools Adjudicator will make a decision this autumn, whether they take an extra class every year.
Benfield Junior School are opening a two form reception entry year from September 2010, bringing forward the Councils plan to expand the school into an all through Primary school. This was due to the unprecidented number of applications in the Hove and Portslade area. The formal process of expanding the school is currently in progress.
Brighton & Hove City Council is also waiting for permission from the Office of the Schools Adjudicator to increase the proposed admissions number at Queens Park Primary School. This means that for entry into reception class in September 2011, the admissions number for Queens Park Primary School will potentially be 60.
The Council is also exploring a number of options for a new primary school in Hove offering 90 reception places. More details can be found in the 2010-11 Schools Admissions booklet, available shortly.
Consultation is currently taking place on the possible merger of Balfour Infants and Balfour Junior schools. The decision for this 'merger' will be available to parents before the closing date for applications.
