Consultation in Brighton & Hove
It’s critical that you have your say in the work that we do and plan to do. It’s not just about Brighton & Hove City Council being more open, it’s about making our policies, strategies and services more effective by reflecting your views in them.
All of our consultations are guided by the principles outlined in the Community Engagement Framework.
Where can I find details of consultations taking place in Brighton & Hove at the moment?
Details of consultations, past and present, can be viewed on the Consultation Portal. The Consultation Portal is an online survey and engagement tool.
If you would like to be notified when new consultations are available on the Portal please go to the Portal sign in page. You can select subjects you are particularly interested in or select to be notified about all consultations.
If you would like paper copies of any consultations or help with using the Portal please contact us on (01273) 291088.
We run a regular telephone survey called the City Tracker. This gives us a better understanding of what you think it’s like to live in Brighton & Hove, what your key concerns are and how you think we’re performing as a council. The results are available on the Brighton and Hove Local Information Service website.
We run a variety of other consultation and engagement activities in different formats and locations which are most appropriate to the issues being addressed. Summary information about these can be found on the City Engagement Calendar.
What happens to the results of consultations?
The results of consultations help us to understand what you think of our services, policies and strategies, and whether and how improvements could be made. They also help us to understand your priorities and concerns.
Results are fed back for consideration in the decision making process where they are balanced against resource constraints, legislation and competing views.
