Have your say - Consultation
Consultation is carried out by us (or on our behalf) for a number of reasons:
-
to find out what you think
-
to identify your priorities and concerns
-
to meet our statutory obligations
Where can I find details of consultation taking place in Brighton & Hove?
Detail of planned council consultation can be viewed in the Brighton & Hove Consultation Portal.
For consultation completed before April 2010 please see our Consultation archive.
How do we consult?
We consult with communities and individuals using methods such as surveys and focus groups. One of the main ways that we consult with residents is through the Citizens Panel (Xchange). What happens to the results?
The results of the consultation are fed back to the public, service managers and decision makers within the council or within our partner organisations.Does it make a difference?
The results of the consultations help us to:
- understand what you think about our services and whether we could do anything differently
- determine the priorities and concerns of residents within the city for a range of issues, to help us design policy or focus resources
The results of consultation provide part of the information upon which decisions are made. However, we also have to consider resource constraints and competing views.
Our past consultation page shows consultation that has been carried out over the last five years. You can find information for each project about what happened to the results, whether findings have influenced any change in service or policy, and access reports.
How do we know the consultation is reliable?
All of our consultations are guided by the standards set out in the Community Engagement Framework that can be found on the 2020 Community Partnership website. Are you planning to carry out research or consultation?
