International Team
The International Team promotes international activity in Brighton & Hove, supports council departments and external groups across Brighton & Hove in developing bids to access EU and other international funding, and provides links to partner organisations across Europe and the wider world.
The following services can be accessed by organisations across Brighton & Hove.
Brighton & Hove City Council European & International Strategy
European & International Strategy [MSWord 177kb]Information on EU funding opportunities
With approximately 200 different funding opportunities available from the EU alone, the team actively promotes key funding streams that are relevant to Brighton & Hove and provides alerts to the announcements of new funding deadlines. These include the Interreg IVA Two Seas Programme and Interreg IVA Channel Programme which support cross border co-operation projects with France, Belgium and the Netherlands, European Social Fund which promotes 'employability' and the Lifelong learning programme which provides funding for schools projects and adult learners. The team also produces a newsletter [pdf 296KB] (the latest edition put out in January 2013) and in addition, through an e-mail bulletin service, provides more detailed information on a wide range of topics, grants and partner searches in areas such as energy, culture, environment and justice. We have around 60 different distribution lists in total so please contact us if there are any distribution lists you would like to be added to.
Advice and support on the development of funding bids
This includes bidding workshops, one-to-one meetings and provision of written briefing materials on funding streams. The team receives additional support through the Southern England Local Partners Office in Brussels which provides access to Brussels based contacts and events as well as giving:
- advice regarding EU project implementation
- information on EU policy developments
- advice and assistance on lobbying on the development of EU policies with local relevance
- advice and support on networking with European partners
The team provides a partner search service for projects requiring European partners. Brighton & Hove chairs the Brighton European Network (BEN) and is a member of the Arc Manche and Eurocities network which is useful in finding potential partners for projects. Brighton & Hove has been involved in a number of Interreg projects. Completed Interreg projects include CAPTURE on which the Council was the lead partner whilst current Interreg projects include Lively Cities.
