Comments, compliments and complaints

We want to know what you think about the service you receive so that we can build on our successes and make improvements where they are most needed.

Your comments, compliments and complaints will be treated in the strictest confidence. If you do make a complaint your right to receive a good quality service will not be affected.

Comments

If you want to comment on a council service, for example suggest how we can improve, you can fill in our online comments, compliments and complaints form. We will ensure your comments are given to the relevant service. Comments are not treated as formal complaints.

Compliments

If you wish to praise a council service, for example tell us how we’ve helped you, please fill in our online comments, compliments and complaints form. We will give your compliments to the staff responsible.

Complaints

If you are not happy with something the council has done, contact the relevant department involved right away. If something has gone wrong it is often possible to put things right quickly if you let the service know. Alternatively we may be able to explain why things have been done a certain way.

If you have contacted the service and are still not happy with what they have done you can make a formal complaint.

The services below deal with complaints in different ways. Click on the service to find out more.

When you first contact us with a complaint it is known as 'stage one' of the council's complaints procedure. You can find more information about the complaints process and ways to contact us on our information on complaints page.

You can fill in our online comments, compliments and complaints form. We will confirm we have received your information within two working days and aim to phone or write to you with a full reply within ten working days. Alternatively you can get a complaints, comments and compliments form from any council office or phone us on 0500 291229, this is a freephone number.
