Design and Conservation
The design and conservation team focuses on the conservation of historic environment and on securing improvements to the appearance of the public realm.
The team, in consultation with community groups and the council's Conservation Advisory Group, prepares conservation area studies and area enhancement plans. Conservation advice is given on traditional methods of historic building repair and on applications for works to listed buildings or to buildings within conservation areas. Urban design advice is given on major new developments within the city. The team also monitors archaeological issues.
