Adult learning
Brighton and Hove City Council works in partnership with all adult learning providers in the city through the Brighton and Hove Learning Partnership (www.bhlp.org.uk). It directly provides adult learning in the city through the Community Learning team which incorporates Family Learning. Together they:
- Encourage people into skills & learning who have not been engaged in formal learning for the last three years – particularly parents and those who do not have a full level 2 qualification
- Provide opportunities in schools and other community venues, sometimes with free crèche support, which will open up possibilities to progress onto further learning with other providers
The Community Learning team provides community based short courses and workshops as well as information, advice and guidance on learning opportunities and steps into employment.
Telephone 01273 294287 for further information.
Family Learning Programmes encourages family members to learn together. They work to help improve the literacy, language and numeracy skills of parents/carers as well as their children. These programmes also help to improve parents/carers’ ability to support their children.
