Cycling

Brighton & Hove have been selected as a national exemplar Cycling Demonstration Town 2005 - 2008. The council are dedicated to promoting healthy and environmentally friendly travel like cycling. Cycle lanes are provided across the city, including along the seafront, Victoria Gardens and Lewes Road and there are many bike parking facilities sited conveniently throughout the city.

Cycle freeways

Work is progressing well on the new north south cycle freeway which when completed will provide a link between the Downs, from the Dyke Railway Trail to the seafront via Hove station. The southern segregated, motor-vehicle free, European-style cycle freeway section will soon be complete along Grand Avenue, with the whole route due for completion in early summer.

See the Cycling England website for more information about this and other cycling improvements in Brighton & Hove.
