School visits to the railway
We welcome School visits to the railway during our operating season. Visits include a trip on the railway and a talk about the railway by one of our engineers (subject to their availability).
Talks take place at Paston place which is pictured in the image to the right. The line to the Aquarium is also shown.
Booking
In order to book your visit please call the railway office. It is easier for us to take bookings on Tuesdays and Wednesdays between 10.00am and 12 noon.
- Call us on (01273) 292718 to work out the cost and ensure that your preferred date is available. We will put you in our diary.
- Our engineer is able to do talks about the railway to your school group. Talks last about 15 minutes. Please ask when booking your visit.
- Please note that you should always confirm your booking with us over the phone. Please do not assume confirmation if we do not reply, especially if you email us using the link on the right.
Prices
- Child group rate; child return, £1.60 each child ( under the age of 14)
- Child group rate: child single, £1.00 each child ( under the age of 14) this rate will apply to the full single or halfway single.
- Teachers and helpers travel free ( provided that they are travelling with fare paying children)
- The fully enclosed adventure playground at the Volks Middle Station, called “Paston Place” is free to enter. There is also a café.
Information for your visit
- Trains run every quarter of the hour 10.15am to 5.00pm on Tuesdays Wednesdays and Thursdays then 11.15am to 5.00pm Monday and Fridays and 10.15 am to 6.00 pm Saturday and Sunday.
- Journey time is 12 minutes each way. Allow 30 minutes for a full return trip.
- Trains run from Aquarium and the Black Rock stations and pass at the middle station, Paston Place.
- The Aquarium Station is opposite the Sealife Centre on the beach complete with small shop and cafe. Toilets opposite.
- The Marina Station is at the end of Madeira Drive near Brighton Marina. Public toilets at the end of the platform.
- Paston Place Station and ticket office is at the bottom of Dukes Mound, postcode BN2 1EN, and next to the train sheds and workshops on the beach. Toilets are in the playground.
- There are public toilets at each of the three stations, each with disabled facilities plus in the children's playground at Paston Place.
- Each booked double train takes up to 79 adults or children.
- Public car parking is available adjacent to the Black Rock Station
- The stations are all accessible for wheel chairs but they must be folded to fit on the trains.
- If you wish to carry out your own risk assessments, please feel free to come down and meet up with us for any assistance you require compiling the assesment.
- Please note that heavy rain or winds above force 6 may mean that the service is suspended until the weather inproves
