Friday 16 March 2018
There is currently a Yellow Weather Warning for snow in Brighton & Hove from Saturday 17 March to Sunday 18 March.
Severe weather shelter for rough sleepers open
Our severe weather shelter for rough sleepers will be open tonight, Saturday and Sunday in response to predicted the cold weather. The shelter is open to all rough sleepers in the city and extra venues are made available if demand requires.
The severe weather shelter is run by Brighton Housing Trust (BHT). BHT work with our street outreach service run by St Mungo's. St Mungo’s will be working with other local organisations to inform rough sleepers about the shelters and to assist BHT in co-ordinating shelter places.

Our highways winter service team will be treating our full route from 7pm this evening.
We continue to keep a close watch over the forecast over the weekend and ensure that our gritting routes are well treated with salt.
Streets, rubbish and recycling
Weather conditions during the week of 26 February to 3 March interrupted scheduled collections in many areas of the city. Please go to our recycling, rubbish and street cleaning page for more information.
How you can help in cold weather
Please check on your elderly and vulnerable neighbours to see if they need help with getting food, medicine or care during cold weather. If you know people who are having problems getting services they need, contact our adult social care helpline 01273 295555.
Find out about protecting the elderly this winter on the Met Office website.
Four wheel drive vehicle volunteers
Each winter we ask for owners of 4x4 vehicles to sign up with us to volunteer. Drivers can help us provide support services during severe weather. To volunteer email email@example.com
We work with homelessness agencies to provide emergency shelter for rough sleepers in extremely cold weather.
