Sports and activity

Our city offers a wide variety of sporting and leisure activities catering for a diverse range of interests and abilities. Throughout the year the city also plays host to large scale sport and cultural events such as the London to Brighton Bike Ride, and the Brighton Festival. Brighton & Hove also has one of the most famous and busiest seafronts in the county, including the oldest electric railway in the world - the Volk's Railway. The seafront welcomes around 10 million visitors each year.

City Sports Strategy and Action Plan:

The Sports Development Team have come together with local sports and physical activity providers and groups to produce a City Sports Strategy & Action Plan. The strategy aims to change the culture of sport and active living in Brighton & Hove, increasing physical activity across all social groups to achieve improvements in health and well being and high levels of sporting performance.

Sports Facilties Action Plan 2012-2022

The key aim of the plan is to improve the overall supply, quality and accessibility of sports facilities in Brighton & Hove to meet the current and future demands of residents.

The plan is to provide a framework which underpins decisions about the future development of sports facilities in Brighton & Hove. A copy of the plan can be downloaded below.
