Cycling on the seafront

Seafront cycle lanes

For the safety and consideration of all users, please do not cycle along the promenade. Equally we ask all pedestrians to avoid walking in or blocking the cycle path.

Regular patrols are carried out by the Seafront Officers and Police Community Support Officers. Fines can be issued to those breaking the bylaws.

Cycle lanes are provided along the seafront and are clearly marked.

Kings Road arches renovations

Phase two of the renovations is now underway. See our Kings Road Arches page to find out how this will affect your journey or visit the JourneyOn website.

Bike hire on the seafront

The Brighton Bike Share scheme is being rolled out across the city, and expected to go live in September. Work is now underway to install bike share hubs and docking stations. Stay up to date on our bike share web page.

You can hire bikes all year round from Brighton Beach Bikes, 250 E Kings Road Arches, next to the Brighton Pier on the beach level.

Bikes for the whole family are available as well as a number of child trailers and seats. Located next to the Brighton Pier, they're perfectly located to head out west towards Hove or east to the white cliffs at Rottingdean, whilst remaining completely on the cycle paths.
