On average people consume too much sugar and this is increasing levels of tooth decay, obesity and Type 2 diabetes.
Sugar Smart is a joint initiative from the council, Food Partnership and Jamie Oliver Food Foundation that looks at what we can all do at home, in schools and in shops, restaurants, cafes and takeaways to tackle this issue.

One in four children in Brighton & Hove are already overweight or obese by the time they leave primary school, and sugar plays a role in this because we are consuming up to three times the amount we should be. Too much sugar is also linked with a higher risk of tooth decay and sugary drinks have been linked to a greater risk of type 2 diabetes.
