Recycling clothes and shoes

Having a clear out?

Clothes and shoes recycling pointYou can recycle clothes and shoes at many of our recycling points.

Shoes should be donated in bags. This is also useful for clothes, but is not essential.

From February 2016 the clothing and shoe banks across the city have been generating funds to improve services across the city. Contributing to the council's annual grant scheme to directly benefit local community and charity groups.

We're running the scheme in collaboration with our contractors European Recycling Company

Help us raise money for local community projects

40% of the income from this recycling scheme will be available to local community and charity groups.

The first grants are set to be awarded from September 2016 onwards, please head to the annual grants to smaller organisations page for details and instructions on how to apply.

We'll be working with local community groups to promote the community grants and help encourage textile recycling.

The community grants will help a diverse range of organisations both large and small and have a positive impact across the city.

We will be able to share the success of the scheme and awarded grant amounts later in the year, so watch this space!
