For questions about Housing Benefit overpayment invoices for privately rented properties and housing association properties:

Housing Benefit Repayment Line: 01273 291970. This line is open Monday to Friday from 9.00am to 5.00pm  (except public holidays).  You can leave a message outside these hours (please include your claim reference or invoice number).  Please note that the Housing Benefit Repayment Line is only for enquiries regarding Housing Benefit invoices.  For assessment queries in relation to benefit overpayments, please call the Benefits Service Enquiry Line.

Enquiries in person:  You can call the Housing Benefit Repayment Line on 01273 291970 to arrange an appointment to see a Recovery Officer about repayment arrangements for benefit invoices.  Appointments are available at Bartholomew House, Bartholomew Square, Brighton, BN1 1JE (map)

Housing Income Management Team (council properties)

For questions about repaying Housing Benefit overpayments for council properties:

Housing Income Management Team Line: 01273 293224.  This line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm (except public holidays). Please note that the Housing Income Management Team can only deal with enquiries regarding the repayment of Housing Benefit for people who were council tenants at the time they were overpaid. For assessment queries in relation to overpayments, please call the Benefits Service Enquiry Line.
