About you - equalities monitoring

The council must consider how different people will be affected by the decisions we make and services we provide. We are required to do this by law, under the Equality Act 2010.

With up-to-date and accurate information we are able to better understand our service users and meet specific needs, identify possible discrimination/barriers to our services, and work to remove them.

Collecting information using ‘About You’ questions does not in itself improve equality. We need to analyse and make use of the information by responding to what it’s telling us. The council does equality impact assessments to support this.
