Timeline - setting our budget for 2017/18

February 2017 - Full Council budget decision
Policy, Resources and Growth Committee met on Thursday 9 February to consider our latest budget proposals. Get the agenda and reports for the committee meeting.
Full Council will meet on 23 February 2017 to debate the final proposals for the council budget including how much Council Tax will be.
January 2017 - The ‘Tax Base Report’ helps us estimate our potential income from Council Tax and Business Rates
Our Policy, Resources and Growth Committee considered the Tax Base Report, which estimates the number of chargeable properties in the city for Council Tax and Business Rates.
The government confirms the Local Government Finance Settlement.
December 2016 - Full Council agree our Council Tax reduction scheme for 2017/18
Council Tax Reduction is the scheme that replaced Council Tax benefit in 2013.
Our agreed Council Tax Reduction Scheme for 2017/18 means that the council will absorb around £3.9 million of a £4.15 million shortfall in funding.

December 2016 - We present our initial budget proposals
Policy, Resources and Growth Committee met on 8 December 2016 to discuss our proposals for the 2017/18 council budget.
The report includes our proposals for how much Council Tax will be next year.

July 2016 - We agree the budget setting process
