Equality and Human Rights Commission

The Equality and Human Rights Commission has a statutory remit to promote and monitor human rights; and to protect, enforce and promote equality across the nine "protected" grounds - age, disability, gender, race, religion and belief, pregnancy and maternity, marriage and civil partnership, sexual orientation and gender reassignment.

Citizens Advice Bureau

Citizens Advice Bureaux dealt with over 6.2 million problems during the past year, providing advice on every subject in 700 bureaux in England, Wales and Northern Ireland and 70 bureaux in Scotland. The Service draws on its experience of clients' problems to show where services and policies are failing.

The British and Irish Ombudsman Association

The Ombudsmen exist to deal with complaints from citizens about certain public bodies or private sector services. The Ombudsmen web site has information about various ombudsmen including the Parliamentary Ombudsman, Banking Ombudsman, Legal Services Ombudsman, Estate Agents Ombudsman, Pensions Ombudsman and Local Government Ombudsman.

Financial Services Authority

The Financial Services Authority is an independent body set up by the Government to regulate financial services and protect consumers. They can help you if you have a complaint and you are unsure who to contact. They have a range of fact sheets and booklets available from the web site.

Trading Standards

Trading Standards Central is a one stop shop for consumer protection information in the UK. This site provides a wealth of information for consumers and businesses, schools, advice and information centres, community organisations, local councils, business support agencies and trade associations.

National Parking Adjudication Service

The National Parking Adjudication Service  is an independent tribunal where impartial lawyers consider appeals by motorists and vehicle owners whose vehicles have been issued with Penalty Charge Notices (or have been removed or clamped) by councils in England and Wales enforcing parking under the Road Traffic Act 1991.

Brighton and Hove Community and Voluntary Sector Forum

The Forum is a membership-led organisation open to all community and voluntary groups in Brighton & Hove.  We provide a space for these groups to meet and exchange ideas, information and good practice.  Our members elect people to represent the views of the sector on strategic partnerships across the city.
