Adult Education includes a lot of different activities, from courses to improve your skills for work or career to leisure activities in arts or healthy living. The wide variety of organisations providing these learning opportunities means that courses may take place during the day, at evenings or weekends. It also means that there are courses taking place all over the city as well as in the main college centres.

Access courses

Access courses are an alternative to A levels or GNVQs for those 19 + years and mature students (those over 21 at the time they start their degree) who want to go on to study at a higher level, such as a degree or Higher National Diploma. Access courses are specifically designed to prepare adults for coping with the demands of undergraduate study and are geared to give a thorough preparation in the skills needed on a degree course.
